For now, Part II of my Great Lakes Industrial series that takes city layouts and fills in the lines.
When I visited Cleveland a few years ago, my tour bus became lost in what is knows as "the Flats." This area of Cleveland is notoriously old, rundown, and in the Cuyuga River floodpain (which cause much of the deterioation) In my hotel, I read in the newspaper that some of this area was going to be rebuilt, but this editor believed that rebuilding the flats is like sanitizing the well-worn seats of Brown Stadium, the character is what makes Cleveland what it is. That evening I took a riverboat tour and passed under the many bridges and into Lake Erie. Looking back, the city was beautiful and looks well-planned, but go back to the city streets and you will change your opinion. (You might think that Cleveland is tricky to navigate, but I was lost trying to draw some of the streets, I eventually just scribbled in some lines that achieve the disorientating feeling of this city) "Cleveland Crumbles" is not only reminiscent of the crumbling buildings I discovered, but also because several large steel mills and shipyards pound away 24-7 and make this city an industrial relic.
Watercolour, sharpie, and ink pen on watercolour paper. Based on the city streets of Cleveland, Ohio.
yes, i suppose. the parts where our bus got lost was pretty insane, but we also went downtown, which was pretty straightforward. thanks, make sure to check out the rest of the series.

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
